The respective parents take oath of the marriage ceremony to be happening on the presents of the guests, relatives and friends.



On wedding day, the groom and bride exchanges garlands which known as ‘Jaimala’ function. The groom’s feet are cleaned with water and he is provided with milk and honey to drink which is called as ‘Madhuparka’. Next is ‘Juta Churai’ where groom’s shoes are traditionally by sisters of the bride. Then very important function is ‘Kanyadaan’ in which the bride’s father gives his daughter’s hand to the groom. Next the custom of both groom and the bridegroom is tied with each other, which known as ‘Hasta Milap’ ritual. Finally, the both takes seven step rounds the scared fire ‘Saptapadi’ and their parents and elders give blessings.

Tradition-Gujarati Marriage


After the marriage rituals, there is a reception party for family guest, relatives of bride and groom. Next is ‘Vidaai’ ceremony where the bride takes farewell by her family with tearful eye. After reaching at the groom’s house the function ‘Ghar Ni Lakshmi’ ritual where the bride knock down rice vessel with her right leg before entering the home. The Hindu is bride is considered as Maa Laxmi for the house. Next is the fun filled ritual called Aeki Beki, which is a wedding game played by the couple.
